Overview
The week entailed learning about the culture at the firm, including it’s history, how they treat staff and mental health as well as a Fitch Learning session and learning and understanding the fundamentals of investment banking in different departments such as M&A as well as interacting with bankers at the firm who we networked with and learnt a past case study from.
Skills
I have learnt and developed skills from the Fitch Learning session which provided me with valuable insight into investment banking where we learnt what advisors and bankers look at when involved in deals and advisory and the maths and analysis behind it.
Business Insight
The graduate recruitment team as well as other staff met in calls and networking provided valuable insight into understanding each role and what is needed for the role as well what is available. It was valuable knowledge as I believed it was very common and the natural typical path for these careers to come from graduates of Economics or finance however after this week I was proved wrong and any degree is valuable.
Culture
The culture followed the roots of the firm. It had a very family feel to it and I felt very welcomed into the firm even for the week. Talking to people and understanding what the firm was like made me want to work there as mental health is so important; they have protected weekends, then the staff being so welcoming or the fact that employees tend to stay for years thus the atmosphere was brilliant.
Your Impressions
Thoroughly enjoyed it and wish it is a place I can work at in the future.
Yes
Make your CV stand out and not to worry about what university or degree you do as the graduate team look at more than that.
