Overview
On the first day, we attended webinars and online talks, and took part in a virtual social event. On the second and third day, we sat in two different legal departments and undertook trainee-style practical work. On the third day, we completed a group exercise which involved researching and giving a presentation, and then concluded with a final interview the following week.
Skills
The scheme involved us performing skills that would be necessary to be a trainee. Such skills included researching new areas of law, learning how to turn this research into advice for a client, and looking through key client documents (such as leases/licences). The group exercise helped to develop skills including collaboration and the ability to present.
Business Insight
I feel like we really got a great insight into the firm and its culture, as we were given many opportunities to talk to those who worked there, and ask them any questions. The firm was so open and friendly, and I feel like I came away from the scheme with a really solid understanding of Dentons' values and work ethic.
Culture
Amazing - everybody I met was so welcoming, warm and friendly. Every single person was willing to answer any questions I had, and many sacrificed their time to speak to me and help me through the work I'd been set. I felt so valued and welcomed on this scheme, and I cannot rate the culture of Dentons highly enough.
Your Impressions
I thoroughly enjoyed the scheme from start to finish. Vacation schemes can be nerve-wracking experiences, but the Dentons team put us at ease, and made the entire process genuinely fun. The week flew by, and I recommend that any candidate applies to take part.
Yes
It's all in the preparation - invest a lot of time into your application form, preparing for your assessment centre and preparing for the actual scheme. Putting in the work ahead of time will show Dentons that you're really invested and enthusiastic to work there. Dentons also really value individuals, so don't be afraid to let your personality shine through your application!
