Overview
As an intern, I spend two days a week in placement. My placement is within corporates and institutions. During these days I have completed NTC's and other tasks involved in the funding of large companies. On the other three days I attend talks from different people within the bank and get involved in a charity project and a business specific project.
Skills
I have developed my networking skills as well as my communication skills. Being online communication skills are key and therefore I have had to ensure I am communicating to the best of my ability. I have learned lots within the banking world as it was completely new to me, I have been able to learn lots of different things and understand how a job at the bank would be on a day to day basis
Responsibilities
I have been given a lot of responsibility, some of the work that I am producing is checked by my team but then is used and sent off to other teams. This has improved my confidence greatly as I am more assured that I can produce work to a high enough standard.
Support & Guidance
I received a lot of support. In particular from my line manager and buddy. It was made apparently clear to me that I could ask them both any question I had. They have both been very supportive and happy to explain anything to me. The early careers team have also made themselves easily accessible and keen to help anyone.
Culture
It is very friendly. I know to work hard but to also take care of my wellbeing. I have been welcomed into the team and supported. The atmosphere, even online, has been very calm and has made me feel at ease during my time.
Your Impressions
I thoroughly enjoy it. I think it is a brilliant experience and I have learned a lot of valuable things. I have enjoyed getting to know what it would be like to work in a bank and I feel like the environment has been very welcoming.
Yes
To have a good research of the purpose of the bank as this is what a lot of work centers around. Knowing the purpose well allows you to understand a lot of the things NatWest do. Within the assessment center, having a lot of examples from your life helps explain your personality. I was inspired to join due to the banks inclusion and having a female CEO was very inspirational.
