Overview
This was a completely virtual event run on zoom and consisted of 4 days of panel talks, recruitment tips and introductions into different sectors of HSBC technology.
Skills
I developed my listening skills through listening to panel discussions and asking question based off these discussions. I also developed my ability to discuss my own achievements and practice personal branding through a skills session.
Business Insight
Business insight was great as there were a large range of employees, spanning across departments and levels of rank. We had the opportunity and were encouraged to ask any questions we had and even network with such employees during a speed networking event.
Culture
There was a large emphasis on helping other employees which was great for new graduates and those who had no technology experience before joining HSBC.
Your Impressions
It was very enjoyable and insightful- just the right amount of time was spent on each session, and each session provided a different insight into a department/ employee's day-to-day work which left me with a lot to think about even after the programme had finished.
Yes
You don't need to have a technology background to apply to this event, even if it is a technology-oriented event. It was emphasised that training is provided to all new employees on their graduate schemes or otherwise, and a lot of support was available for such employees.
