    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of the insight and what was involved on a day-to-day basis.
  • Members of the team would brief me on projects/developments they were working on, followed by an e-mail and I would work on the tasks that were set such as drafting planning appraisals or covering letters to be sent with a planning application. There were also daily departmental zooms giving an insight into other departments at Savills.

    Skills

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I've discovered how Planning is very much "learn-on-the-job" and I've become accustomed to certain Planning Policies and the procedure of submitting large scale applications. I also learnt more about the APC process. I developed my writing when producing planning documents and had to ensure I adopted the right tone.

    Business Insight

  • 3. What was it like understanding all about the business and potential roles available?
  • It was reassuring to learn that there are recognised, established pathways to gaining a professional accreditation such as from the RTPI. I appreciated the discussions with other departments and how they are all inter-connected and the placement has also encouraged me to gain more experience in other areas such as Local Authorities.
