Overview
The day-to-day tasks were highly varied as a result of the role itself. Much of my week would be spent doing site inspections of retail parks/shopping centres- then creating summary's which would be used later in reports/budgets. The rest of my time would be spent looking at leases, tenancy schedules and tenant proposals. Its hard to say everything as my internship was extremely varied.
Skills
As a non-cognate student, I learned a huge amount in the period I was an intern at Savills. Although this was not my first property work experience, it was my first property management experience- In the short period of time I have greatly developed existing skills, mostly because as you are required to adapt them to the requirements of the role. It furthermore has encouraged me to continue developing my IT and organisation skills.
Business Insight
Savills held daily 'department overviews' so despite only working in one team my overall understanding of the business is strong. They also highly encourage speaking to other teams outside your own to gain an understanding of teams/roles.
Culture
The general atmosphere was very sociable and friendly. Everyone I personally spoke to could be summed up as 'approachable'. Despite being an intern, all levels of management were more than happy to answer questions or just have a chat.
Your Impressions
Despite my internship being interrupted by COVID on several occasions, I genuinely really enjoyed it.
Yes
