Overview
Completing research on regions around the clients property. Making sure that the area can support the type of development they require and helping to put forward a compelling planning case. My specific role centred around collecting the data, finding the right type for each specific case.
Skills
Yes. My ability to critically analyse numerical data sets has improved as I am now more selective in the data I choose to use in my cases. I also feel more confident sifting through documents and only picking out the most crucial statements. I also feel a lot of my soft skills have improved, these are harder to measure but I feel more confident in my 'soft skill ability'.
Business Insight
Absolutely faultless. There were industry talks put on in which every part of the business got to represent themselves and put forward the work they do. AS well as discussing how the graduate scheme works in their specific department. I was also able to privately grab a chat with many members of the office over a coffee to learn more about their specific departments 1:1.
Culture
Very friendly. As I mentioned in my previous answer I was able to approach anybody for a chat and they were more than willing to share their advice and experiences, whilst also asking me questions about my journey. My team could not do enough to make sure that I understood what was going on, which lead to fast skill growth. They also kindly took me out for drinks.
Your Impressions
I came into the insight not knowing whether this would be the right company for me. I am now 100% sure I would be comfortable here if they would have me back. They are seen as the pinnacle company to work for at university and I can 100% see why. I've let a lot, met some great people and had a fab time doing it.
Yes
100% do it. Start as early as possible, I wish I had of done more at an earlier date. It is one of those places where everyone is approachable so if you are outgoing, ambitious and actively looking to progress your career then it is the perfect place for you. You're given all the tools to succeed, the only thing you need to add is your own drive.
