Overview
Working on a project in the In-store bakery department. I have meetings with my line manager and other members around the business and suppliers to help with my project, which consists of looking at Tesco Express stores. I work daily on my project, incorporating new ideas I have learnt throughout the day.
Skills
I have improved my communication skills through writing emails and speaking to people from all over the business. I have improved my computer skills, specifically, Outlook, Powerpoint, Excel and Teams. My critical thinking has improved through analysing data and statistics from weekly reports.
Responsibilities
I was given meaningful tasks to carry out and was trusted to do my own reports on my own. I was involved in other projects with other interns and went on store visits with suppliers where I would get information for my project, which I would present to my line manager.
Support & Guidance
I received lots of support and guidance throughout from all members of my team, my line manager. I had weekly team meetings and would check in with my manager everyday. I was given a Tesco buddy graduate I could ask any questions. I also had a mentor who I would speak to every fortnight and would support me in skills development.
Culture
The company culture was inclusive and everybody was always happy to help. Other employees would always make time if I had any questions or problems (even if they were not in my team) and they would try and help solve them.
Your Impressions
I really enjoyed my internship at Tesco and I have met lots so many different people from different backgrounds. It surpassed my expectations and I have enjoyed the work I have done this summer. The company culture is very inclusive and my team have all been so helpful!
Yes
Be yourself and make the most of the experience. Don't be afraid to speak to as many people as you can, everybody will want to help!
