I have greatly improved my knowledge of excel, my interpersonal and communication skills as well as analytical thinking.
Responsibilities
Yes. My responsibilities were not shared with any other team member which meant that the team and my business partners were relying on me. I was involved in a few projects where I was given just the right amount of autonomy and at the same being supported by the team. I was exposed to various aspects of business throughout my placement.
Support & Guidance
The structure of the placement year at TJX is build around support. I was assigned a buddy whom I could contact anytime, my line manager was contactable and supportive at any time. The same applies to the wider team- everybody was willing to help and guide me if I was not sure on something. The team was also eager to learn about me and build a relationship that is not centered only around work.
Culture
As the whole placement was conducted online due to the pandemic, the company had to quickly readjust and adapt to the online environment. I was impressed with how well they have managed to live up to their core values. We had team quizzes every week, intercompany events every quarter and great emphasis was placed around our mental health and wellbeing.
Your Impressions
The placement with TJX was simply wonderful. It exceeded my expectations in every aspect. The team were brilliant and the company culture shone though at every level of seniority. I would highly recommend this company to anyone wishing to get the feel of the industry.
