Overview
We provide support to Individual Bank and Corporate Bank Managers, whether that would be mortgage paperwork or changing customer details within the systems. Alongside this, we work on our projects that have been given to use by the branch manager and the HR team.
Skills
I've developed existing skills and realised how vital it is that everyone plays their part within the branch. I've always been good at time management, but making a list at the start of the day helps structure your day, and gets you more into a routine.
Responsibilities
I was involved in 4 projects, one of them organising a wealth management event which is being held by the branch at end of September. The branch project made be categorise customers into IB and CB customers, and look at how much income they generate, as well as what customers fall within the church spire, and how many customers are in each area. Also, looked at the morning reports that come in each day.
Support & Guidance
Received a lot, from all the people in the branch. I had a branch mentor who guides me what I could help with each day, but everyone was willing to support me, and answer any queries which I may have during the course of my time here.
Culture
Company culture is completely different to any other bank, with it being decentralised and the branch makes all the decisions, its a very supportive and teamwork heavy office environment. Because IB and CB Managers don't have bonuses, they can choose who they want to bank. Only pick the people bank if they fit the handelsbanken way.
Your Impressions
I enjoyed it thoroughly, was nice to have a much better insight into what happens within a bank. I kept an open mind throughout the process and was open to any opportunities that came my way. It was nice to get a mix of learning about the banks culture, as well as hands on experience in he day to day running.
Yes
Make the most of your time at the branch, ask questions, get involved with anything that happens during the day that you would like to learn more about. You control how you spend your time, and just have to make the most of the opportunities that come your way
