Overview
Each day we would have an hour of interactive presentations delivered via Zoom to all of the Summer Scheme students. The rest of the day was spent working in your team, so the activities varied depending on where you sat. I completed research tasks, administrative tasks, and worked on many tasks with the graduate in my team. I also did a few site visits.
Skills
Developed skills in client communication and in Excel.
Business Insight
We had half hour talks provided by a member of each department. It would have been nice to meet more people face to face, and the burden was placed on the interns to organise any events in person.
Culture
A little more traditional and lad-ish than expected, having previously done experience in law and financial services. The office was very male dominated.
Your Impressions
I really enjoyed myself, and by the end of my two weeks I felt like I was beginning to be a part of the company. I am so grateful we could do it in person rather than online! The culture was quite different to what I expected and this took some getting used to; I valued the few socials I had as it allowed me to understand the people behind the firm.
Yes
I strongly get the impression that Savills are looking for those who can make good conversation with their 'type' of people. So don't be shy and show you can take initiative.
