Overview
The 6 week internship starts with 1 week of training and induction covering a wide range of skills like giving feedback, presenting to clients, and teamwork. The following 5 weeks are split into two 2.5 week rotation within different projects. Work involves shadowing other associates/team members, research and analysis (excel), and reporting/ presenting your findings to the team.
Skills
Yes. I've learnt how to better give feedback to colleagues, manage and communicate to my stakeholders, and was given insight of risk/ compliance within investment banking.
Responsibilities
This was one of the weaker points of the internship. A lot of the work involved menial tasks like formatting slides, translating excel models into process maps, writing emails to the wider team etc, with little opportunity to solve problems that are challenging/ intellectually stimulating.
Support & Guidance
The support and guidance given was excellent. You are assigned a 'career coach' to help you set and work on professional goals and a 'buddy' to speak through anything you feel like.
Culture
Company culture and general atmosphere is good. PwC has a good bunch of easy going and interesting people with hobbies and interests outside of work. It's easy to find like-minded people because of the incredible network PwC has - I think that is its biggest strength. At times I felt like a lot of people didn't have a strong purpose for joining PwC (often not knowing much about their line of service before joining), saying they ended up here because they 'saw a grad scheme' come up and didnt know what they wanted to do after graduating.
Your Impressions
Overall I enjoyed getting insight into Management Consulting and understanding sector specific problems facing various industries, as well as ones spanning across all of them, like the need for digital/tech transformations. The 6 weeks were however not long enough to apply or develop technical skills and get the chance to work on challenging problems.
