Overview
In my placement days (in Aviation in Lombard), I have been tasked with several projects including a overhaul of the current valuation tool and given plenty of autonomy within those. Daily this means meetings with line manager and the team as well as time spent working on th eproject by myself.
Skills
Learnt how to network in a corporate and virtual environment more effectively. Developed my existing excel skills a lot and presentation skills.
Responsibilities
The overhaul of the valuation calculator was real responsibility and I found it much more enjoyable/satisfying as a result. My other two projects were less interesting but also had a tangible impact so that was nice.
Support & Guidance
My line manager went out of her way to give me new opportunities and look after me which was much appreciated. Also, early careers gave us a lot of contact so definitely can't complain on that front.
Culture
Good company culture which placed a firm emphasis on mental health and looking after ourselves.
Your Impressions
Definitely enjoyed the placement days but obviously would have been nice to be in an office and make better connections with my team and other interns. The days not in the placement are sometimes really useful/enjoyable but can be hit and miss.
Yes
Reach out to as many people as possible as everyone is willing to give a bit of time to talk about their experiences. Focus on the purpose stuff as that is really important to everyone.
