Overview
Daily tasks included producing a daily orderbook for the commercial team, completing quotations for customers and responding to any email enquiries. I was responsible for producing weekly orderbooks for key customers and also had monthly reports. Marketing tasks were also prominent as I was the main marketing employee at the site. I worked in the commercial office for most of the year, which prior to the pandemic had around 20+ employees full time.
Skills
I developed my Microsoft skills further, particular excel as this is probably the software I used the most. I learnt how to navigate Adobe InDesign which is a software we use for marketing tasks. Regular communication with customers allowed my communication skills to develop further.
Responsibilities
I was given a lot of responsibility and was delegated tasks to complete independently. However, there was always support if I needed it.
Support & Guidance
Plenty of support offered to me. I felt an integral member of the team at Prysmian. Everyone is very friendly and willing to help.
Culture
Very friendly atmosphere. Everyday there was a lunchtime quiz for the team to join, this even moved online during the pandemic to ensure colleagues regularly interacted.
Your Impressions
I thoroughly enjoyed my placement year at Prysmian. The working environment was very positive and I enjoyed the responsibility I was given. Even during the constant challenges posed by the pandemic, I felt supported by my team. My year at Prysmian fulfilled all my hopes and expectations for a placement year.
Yes
Try to remain calm. Use the interview to see if it is somewhere you would want to work and if the job would be a good fit for you.
