Overview
Involved two placement days with your manager and team, during which you could do some shadowing work, sitting in on team meetings, expand your knowledge about the team and its processes, and potentially do some tasks your manager might set you.
Skills
I have learnt to use new tools and skills when it comes to analyzing existing frameworks and analyzing potential strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats of different processes or ideas. I have also developed my presentation skills, as well as learning some key Critical People Capabilities such as Critical Thinker, Improved Innovator, Trusted Advisor, Change Ready and Connectedness.
Business Insight
It was very insightful getting to speak with people across the business and understanding their different roles within the company. I gained a lot of information through resources available to me and speaking to a variety of people all across the bank, which expanded my knowledge not only about the field of Risk but also what the wider bank does and the different businesses it engages in.
Culture
The company culture was excellent. The team and manager that I was assigned made me feel welcome and part of the team. Everyone was very willing to answer any and all questions that I had. The diverse range of people that I engaged with throughout the experience gave me insight into the inclusive nature of the company, and the general atmosphere was very supportive of my development.
Your Impressions
I thoroughly enjoyed my experience as it was filled with a variety of different opportunities to learn and find out about new things. In addition, I thought the company facilitated networking opportunities really well, considering the experience was virtual.
