Overview
The internship requires you to get involved in more than one project both in and outside your immediate team. Eg. Resource group related project and fundraising related projects. Tasks vary depending on team you’re in but most interns are given one large project throughout the 8 weeks from their line manager.
Skills
Developed: presentation skills, communication skills, time management, networking New Skills: team related technical skills, how to advance your career at hsbc, task script writing, external stakeholder management
Responsibilities
Yes lots … ownership of my own project, presented back to senior stakeholders. Given day to day responsibilities also.
Support & Guidance
Lots, multiple meetings/workshops covering a range of topics: mental health, soft skills, technical skills etc.
Culture
Everyone is very approachable and wants to help you develop your career … I reached out to a range of people and they were happy to have meetings to explain their role. Company is diverse and inclusive + majority of staff are very driven.
Your Impressions
Really enjoyed it: despite being virtual there was plenty to get involved in and hsbc made it easy to connect with other interns. My immediate team were very welcoming and supportive. It was very obvious my manager had given a lot of thought to the project she gave me. ET are also very friendly and supportive, the sessions they put on were very beneficial.
Yes
Be enthusiastic and driven.
