Overview
I was in the International Subsidiary Banking department. I attended client meetings, carried out MI analysis and did prospecting for new clients for HSBC to take on. Since the job was new to me, a lot it was self development and networking.
Skills
Time management Collaboration team work confidence business analysis
Responsibilities
Yes. MI analysis, prospecting new clients were both things important to HSBC. I had help if I needed it but ultimately it was my responsibility. It was also my responsibility to make the most out of the internship by networking correctly.
Support & Guidance
The support and guidance was down to me. I made connections that enabled the sufficient support and guidance required. Overall i felt very supported.
Culture
Felt very welcoming. They made an effort to show they truly care about your mental health. Everyone I spoke to has been really friendly and helpful. The one problem I would say is the fact they only take on ~50% of interns. I feel it should be more flexible and depend on the cohort.
Your Impressions
Overall I really enjoyed. Inevitably, I would have preferred it be in person but nothing could be done about that. I also felt a little bit stressed knowing around only half get the grad role.
Yes
Be yourself on the interview and show off your social skills. Be confident in who you are and show off your good personality traits. Who you are goes a long way.
