The Role
Enjoyed the working life, great community of students around and a real role to develop skills and actually learn what it's like to work in a multinational company
Felt very valued by many of those I worked very closely with
IBM had a lot of structures in place for support and guidance both career wise and pastorally.
Some days were hectic but some were a lot quieter, flexible working makes this a lot easier to cope with.
The type of role I was in could not be done by anyone else as they didn't have the correct accesses and training. Obviously IBM would not have gone up in smoke if it hadn't been done, but still...
Good for future life, not very relevant to my degree, even if it is a business management degree.
The Company
The office building was full of other students but where I actually worked tended to be very quiet.
I'd say pretty well set up, but I have no real comparisons
The company provided me with a wealth of opportunities, although much of the time this felt like just doing the work nobody else wanted to.
Flexi Time
Sports and Social Club
Working from home
They gave me a job - eventually
The Culture
There are so many students that when you first start it's almost like a whole new freshers week.
More expensive than I was used to in Birmingham, but way below London prices.
In term-time there was a lot of students so lots happened, in their holidays - less so.
There were sports teams, community projects etc.
