Overview
The job involved a lot of placement work, specific to each office, and collaborative work on two charity and volunteering projects. Most people have multiple calls a day, some involving clients and many catch up calls with colleagues.
Skills
I have developed immensely my social skills, ability to reach out to people. Moreover, due to my placement work I was able to further improve my Excel knowledge and work on highly numerical data sets.
Responsibilities
The internship exceed my expectations when it came to responsibility - I was given a lot of important tasks that made me feel part of the team. Furthermore, we were given a few projects that revolved around real-life issues that could actually make a difference in the bank.
Support & Guidance
The bank does really care about its employees, and more importantly, their mental health. I had a few people, such as managers and grad support, that I could easily reach out to whenever I needed any support or had any issues.
Culture
Diversity and Inclusion is something I care about when applying for jobs, I want to be surrounded by different people with different view of life and that was the case at HSBC. I had the chance to work with various colleagues with a diverse set of backgrounds, and felt excited and motivated to come to work every day. I learned a lot and managed to make a lot of new friends.
