Overview
To provide exposure to the workplace and the firm culture to vacation scheme students. Generally, the day-to-day tasks mostly consist of court documents preparation and legal research.
Skills
Being able to step into the client's shoes while working on the relevant research and document preparation is essential in order to structure an argument that best reflects the client's interest. Besides, it is important to take a step further in performing your assigned tasks, always think twice regarding what is the information that the recipient will tend to highlight, this will definitely assist in carrying out the task better.
Business Insight
This helps in future career planning as you get the more required information and can now better picture the industry.
Culture
The company values diversity and equality, generally, people are very friendly and approachable. I bumped into several partners, including the managing partner on my way back to my seat or to the pantry occasionally, and they will usually stop by to chat a little bit about my day and offer some great advice.
Your Impressions
The scheme is structured carefully, we get to learn the functions of different departments and also to have lunch with some fee earners. During the casual setting, you get to ask informal questions like 'why would you begin your career as a lawyer' which you may not have the opportunity to ask during work time. This is particularly helpful for fresh grad
