Overview
There were scheduled panel talks and networking sessions throughout the week, in addition to solo/group assessment tasks for the TC application. There were also set trainee tasks from various departments to complete on Forage. A buddy (a trainee) and a supervisor (a senior associate) were on hand to answer any questions about their experiences in the firm & offer guidance for the tasks.
Skills
I found the scheme beneficial in terms of developing time management skills in a trainee environment, as there was a lot scheduled and not much time to devote to the tasks.
Business Insight
The scheduled sessions were useful and involved Q&A's with AG employees at various levels. It would have been better had there been more time to network outside these sessions - unfortunately the week was condensed into three days and so other things (tasks, assessments) took priority for most schemers.
Culture
Everybody I spoke with on the scheme was very friendly and honest, which seems to be a good reflection of the firm's culture.
Your Impressions
Whilst I did find the scheduled events very insightful, I didn't enjoy the scheme overall. It was too condensed, with the TC assessments feeling like the real focus. I also didn't enjoy the set Forage tasks, as it wasn't "real work" or focused on one area of interest. The scheme felt like a three day assessment centre rather than a placement.
Yes
Be sure to research the firms approach to service delivery and values, as the application process focuses heavily on your understanding and compatibility with these.
