The Role
It was a great experience and I learnt a huge amount about Microsoft technologies.
Colleagues valued my opinion and I was even flown out to the team meeting in Redmond. I was always treated like a full time employee.
Colleagues in Redmond would make time to help me/answer questions, even if it was very early in the morning.
my workload varied, but there was always something to be working on.
I have gained a huge amount of knowledge about Microsoft technologies
The Company
Flexi Time
Subsidised Canteen
Sports and Social Club
Subsidised/Company Gym
International Travel
Company Parties/Events
Staff Sales/Staff Shop
Above 25 days holiday
Working from home
Only a small percentage of interns are taken back as graduates, however there may be other opportunities. My friends working at smaller companies are more likely to be offered jobs. Ultimately you are there to do a job and whilst most departments are happy to have an intern every year, only a few actually hire grads. Having said that, I feel that the experience has really helped my employment prospects outside the organization.
The Culture
Living in a house with other interns really helps, but all the interns are sociable and it's easy to arrange things to do.
Reading is ok, but it's only a small place so dont expect too much!
Microsoft has loads of sports groups that you can get involved in.
