Overview
Laboratory research, attending team meetings, data presentations
Skills
Developed lab skills as had no previous experience. Also a lot more comfortable giving presentations and sharing my results with others.
Responsibilities
Mostly shown how to operate lab equipment once and then had responsibility to complete tasks alone. Could always ask other members of the lab team for help though
Support & Guidance
I had a supervisor who I was able to ask questions to if needed. I was also supported by the wider neuro team so always had someone around to ask
Culture
Due to coronavirus the culture and atmosphere wasn't as lively as previous years and wasn't overly social but internal employee groups e.g. AZinspire provided opportunities to network and socialise
Your Impressions
I enjoyed my placement at AZ. I made great friends and feel like the work I did was meaningful. Due to the current pandemic, I thought the work aspect of my placement would be highly affected but AZ made sure we were still able to carry out the research we had planned
Yes
Just be smiley and interested on the interview day, I definitely didn't know all the answers but if you ask questions and are polite then it goes a long way. Don't be afraid to get things wrong throughout the year because its so new and everyone does
