Overview
The day to day work involves creating presentations, performing financial analysis, creating marketing materials and executive summaries, supporting the team generating ad hoc anlaysis for a specific transaction, doing market research.
Skills
Yes I have learnt new skills and developed existing ones mainly: - Project management skills: Schedule a process and tasks, refine my organizational skills - Communication skills: Liaise with people from different team and discuss/exchange with thrid party providers, clients using appropriate language - Use of softwares: excel, ppt - Data collection and anlaysis - Risk and uncertainty management
Responsibilities
I was given a surprising amount of responsibility given my junior level. I was asked to send emails and schedules to clients, reach out directly to third parties, work directly with MDs on certain topics. The team always made sure I took ownership of my work
Support & Guidance
I was given a lot of support. The HR team was very proactive and ready to help.
Culture
Very friendly, down to earth, very communicative and values team work, very caring, always giving you the opportunity to take ownership of your own work and let you shine, lean management (worked directly with MDs sometimes), a culture that accommodates to your personal learning objectives, very honest and sincere people, no apparent hypocrisy (ie, constantly having to justify that you are doing an amazing job and that you love your work more than life itself)
Your Impressions
Overall my internship was a great learning experience surrounded by nice and caring people. I would definitely recommend it to anyone wanting to get into investment banking. UBS helps you achieve your personal learning objectives in a benevolent environment. I experienced a great learning curve throughout my internship particularly in the sector I was assigned to.
Yes
During interviews, definitely be yourself, show that you are a fun person to work with and that you are reliable, read a lot about the sector you are interested in, show that you are curious about many different things
