Overview
The day was divided where most days in the morning we began with a series of talks and conversations with various employees at EY we then spent the afternoon working with a group of students on a case study that was presented to us. We then had to present our findings nearer the end of the 2 weeks to a panel of mentors.
Skills
I have developed my presentation as well as networking skills. Being pushed into an environment where we were constantly speaking with high net worth professionals, I had to consistently ask questions to gain as much insight into the profession. We spoke with mentors who also taught us etiquette of speaking to clients in client meetings.
Responsibilities
In terms of responsibility that directly affected the work in my service line there wasn't a lot of responsibility. However we worked as a team on a client which was responsibility shared among us to come up with a good proposition.
Support & Guidance
Throughout the internship we spoke with many professionals and were even assigned a buddy and mentors. We had sessions with them where we were able to ask any questions we had and gain as much insight into the service sector.
Culture
The company culture was amazing! Everyone was really nice and willing to teach and guide. It is really obviously a peoples firm where everyone works together to help each other and support one another.
Your Impressions
I really enjoyed my internship. I got to meet loads of new people and make loads of new friends. I was able to network and gain lots of industry knowledge.
Yes
I would advise applicants to be themselves. Everyone is super supportive of each other and the firm is very people centric in that everyone is welcome and encouraged to be exactly who they are. Don't be afraid to ask questions. Practice psychometric tests a lot that's the only way you'll be able to get through the initial stages.
