Overview
I was part of the Credit Risk team. The main goal of my internship was to create a unit testing coverage report for a given R Model. A typical day would consist of working in Risklab (R language) to perform unit testing (testthat package), create functions and file coverage reports (covr package) and integrate my work within Gitlab. We would also have daily stand-ups where you would give an update about your assigned project.
Skills
Improved my technical skills: R language abilities, Excel, GitLab, Agile and financial knowledge and I also improved my interpersonal skills: collaboration, time management, organisation, problem solving
Responsibilities
Yes, I was given responsibility from day one
Support & Guidance
Everyone here was really helpful. I would have daily meetings with my line manager to ask any questions / get any help related to my assigned project. I would also have daily meetings with all of my colleagues in order to understand what everyone is working at the moment and how we can best support each other.
Culture
Extremely welcoming, everyone was really helpful and encouraging.
Your Impressions
I loved being here during this summer and I would love to continue working with UBS
Yes
Apply to the department that you are truly passionate about; take your time and do the research and I would also recommend messaging people on LinkedIn that work in the field you would like to apply / have a job similar to what you would like to do. That contributes to build your network but also to understand more about UBS.
