Overview
As a Customer Success Assistant, I am involved in all aspects of the business – ranging from Sales and Project Management to Customer Service and Consultancy. At the forefront of our Customer Success team, we are often the first people that our customers come to for advice and help. Whether it be managing a project or consulting with customers during the Onboarding process, I am constantly establishing new relationships and building customer rapport.
Skills
I have learned a lot of new technical skills that I had not previously been exposed to such as programming in SQL, data analysis using Power BI and building HTML email templates. I have also developed my soft skills such as teamwork, communication with customers and colleagues, confidence when presenting to clients and in company meetings and also problem-solving.
Responsibilities
Yes, I was given a lot of responsibility in my placement including leading consultancy and training calls with customers to help them maximise their ROI from the software. I was also responsible for configuring the customers' profiles to complement their sales processes as well as managing projects such as bulk database updates and data imports.
Support & Guidance
I have received a lot of support and guidance over my placement experience, particularly from my line manager who has encouraged me to get involved in all aspects of the job in order to develop my skill set as much as possible during the year. They have shown a lot of confidence in my ability, allowing me to take on responsibility and provide real value to the company. In turn, this has made me more self-assured of my own ability in the role, making me feel like a valued member of the team.
Culture
There is a good company culture that consists of a strong work ethic and a great social environment.
Your Impressions
I found my placement challenging in parts but extremely rewarding. In an unprecedented year, we have still managed to have a good time and stay connected which can prove difficult when the whole experience becomes virtual. Working virtually can be quite isolating at times and being out of the office often removes the social aspect at work. The Beer Fridays have been a welcome source of social interaction and in a normal year, there would have been a lot more company socials which I am disappointed to have missed out on.
