Overview
Working with data in National Security Department. My role has been mainly focussed on Natural Language Processing.
Skills
Developed my coding skills greatly - a lot on Python! Great to develop team work skills especially all being done remotely. Also had to present some of my work which is great experience.
Responsibilities
Yes - right from the start I was involved thoroughly in the project which meant you are thrown in a bit in the deep end! But it means you learn so much and once up to speed, I was fully involved in the project.
Support & Guidance
Everyone on the team was super helpful and they all felt really approachable for any questions I had. I was also assigned a graduate buddy in a similar role to mine which was useful to ask any stupid questions!
Culture
Considering we've all been working remotely, I have been given the opportunity to meet the team in person. There have also been lots of events for interns which have been great for networking. Only given it 3 stars because of covid, not much can be done about that.
Your Impressions
It has been really good for me and I have thoroughly enjoyed! I have learnt so much and found the work genuinely interesting.
Yes
My interview was online on Hirevue due to COVID and was very pain-free to complete. I also had to complete a coding interview after that. The 'games' on the assessment centre were pretty standard maths and visualisations etc. Ask as many questions as you can and speak to as many colleagues and interns as possible - they will all be useful contacts!
