Overview
On a day-to-day basis, I was given a business project to work on with other interns. I also had a charity project to work on with a team to raise money for a partnered charity. Finally, I had two placement days during which I shadowed colleagues and worked on a project I then presented.
Skills
I have developed hard skills like the use of Tableau and SQL. I have also developed soft skills like presentation and communication skills.
Responsibilities
I was able to work on a real ongoing project. All of my analysis being presented to my stakeholders, they will be able to integrate it to their own work. Consequently, I did have some responsibility even though the quality of my work was reviewed to ensure it was good.
Support & Guidance
I had a buddy who gave me biweekly guidance. I could talk and reflect on my learning. Additionally, I had a supportive line manager who I met regularly and who guided me through my work. Finally, all of my colleagues were always open to questions and ready to meet to help.
Culture
There is a generally very friendly atmosphere. Employees are really pushed to undergo self-led learning. There is also a large emphasis on sustainability and diversity. Finally, there are many opportunities to volunteer for charities or to organize and participate social events. Overall, I would encourage anyone to join our company.
Your Impressions
I really enjoyed the work that I did. Moreover, I was given many opportunities to learn about the bank and the different teams. The experience exceeded my expectations. Having many projects to work on with interns, I also felt part of the intern cohort and I had many chances to develop the skills I wanted. I would definitely come back.
Yes
I would advise them to be themselves and showcase their enthusiasm and personal motivations. NatWest aims to champion potential. The company's culture should encourage you to put forward your unique and fresh perspective.
