The Role
Thoroughly enjoyable. Foundation is the internal body that manages all new hires (apprentices, placement students and graduates) and they have done a great job.
In my software development role, I feel I get treated as if I was a full time member of the team.
My manager was great in providing me with opportunities to grow. She allowed me to take time out of my day to day job to shadow others in the company to learn about their job role.
The most valuable skill I learnt was how to talk to people. It may sound not important but it truly is a very useful skill to have. I've learnt the area in which I want to go into as a graduate through shadowing and have learnt technical skills and perseverance in a task to help me complete the final year of my degree next year.
The Company
The more open your personality, the more exciting the workplace gets.
Initially I had to get security clearance and this took almost two months. I could only properly start working after this time. Despite this, the placement is wonderfully managed and if you seek to improve, Foundation will assist in making that possible.
Plenty of lunch and learn opportunities and visits to other locations in the country for various events. Foundation manages to include all new hires.
Provided you apply early and show why you are different to other candidates, you have a great chance in joining.
The Culture
Farnborough has no night life.
Socialising with the other placement students and the graduates opened up loads of activities.
