Overview
Intern within internal audit team. Two days each week assigned to placement team, involving learning the area, attending meetings and helping on audit tasks. Other days contained HR led development sessions, working on a Business project with other IA interns and a CSR fundraiser.
Skills
Various development sessions, focused on the learning to work effectively remotely, taking care of wellbeing and presentation skills. In placement developed analysis skills in Excel, and learnt the basics of using Power Bi and SQL. Knowledge learnt in role covers NatWest Group as a whole, information on placement position and Audit methodology
Business Insight
Plenty of 1-2-1 calls available to improve my understanding of the business, roles with it and the role that Internal Audit plays.
Culture
Very inclusive in the team, everyone was willing to speak to me and answer my questions. Part of a team wellbeing week which ended in a team social. Wider graduate council helped to organize intern calls. CSR fundraising project in a small team of interns. Due to being virtual, unsure about other social events
Your Impressions
The work I did was a challenge whilst having responsibility and pushed my learning forward. The team atmosphere was welcoming and helpful, with the company as a whole being similar. It met my goals of learning more about the workings of a bank and the role of internal audit. Definitely considering the graduate program.
Yes
Assessment centre was standard, make sure prepared standard interview questions and know the company and the role.
