Overview
It was completely online so my day involved lots of meetings over zoom. Each day was different and interesting getting to meet different people across the bank. We still had lots of networking opportunities despite it being virtual.
Skills
I have developed skills in presenting to others and being able to work as a group. I also found that my professionalism in a working environment was developed as we were given the opportunity to see what it would be like working in a graduate style job.
Responsibilities
Yes I was given a lot of responsibility for my personal projects and work and knew that is was down to me whether I was going to succeed or not. I wasn't given responsibility when it came to clients however.
Support & Guidance
I received lots of support and guidance. Before I even started the internship my graduate buddy and line manager had introduced themselves to me and were constantly supportive through each week. Everyone else in the bank was so friendly and I found that people were always happy to listen to my questions and were very helpful to interns.
Culture
Really friendly and welcoming. Everyone put in so much effort to network and reach out even though it was virtual. Everyone seemed happy and helpful and it was a really nice culture to work in.
Your Impressions
I really enjoyed all of my placement and would definitely recommend it to anyone who wishes to go into the financial sector.
Yes
To make the most of your experience by networking as much as possible. Meet new people who are at a range of different levels to their career and this will really help you when thinking about your own future career prospects.
