Overview
Was staffed on pitches (not live deals). Therefore heavy emphasis on helping analysts/associates generate presentations. Also some support in the excel work, finding financials for companies via companies house or otherwise, summarising research reports, taking notes in internal calls. The internship did also include two weeks of training and several social functions which were obviously important as well.
Skills
Proactivity given the virtual nature of the internship. Learnt more about how transactions and valuation work.
Responsibilities
Yes - but it depended on the project I was placed on and the Analyst/Associate I was working for. In general if you perform well, the juniors will give you more responsibilities. Also, work is always checked before being sent to a senior.
Support & Guidance
My team was very kind and I had a very kind associate who took out a lot of time to help and answer any questions I had. Also, we always had the organizational team from HR and a lot of contacts we could reach out to if necessary.
Culture
Very positive. Professional but also friendly and not too hierarchical.
Your Impressions
Very much so!!
Yes
The assessment centre consisted of three interviews. Know the technicals as they will be asked. But also know how to do small-talk and have several stories prepared to demonstrate your ability to work in a team, to showcase your strengths/weaknesses, etc.
