Overview
Software Engineer roles ranged from the full development process. From planning, implementation / development, testing and certification. This changed depending on the progress of the project you are assigned to. My placement consisted mostly of unit development and testing / certification
Skills
Massively improved on my general software development, especially in "C". As well as other general skills like Version Control and testing
Responsibilities
Yes. By nature of Aviation development, Engineers must take ownership of their software and documents.
Support & Guidance
Supports was provided by both my project technical leaders, as-well as my Line Manager. This provided amazing support in both technical fields, and personal development
Culture
Friendly and welcoming but also challenging
Your Impressions
Thoroughly enjoyed the year. Currently in the process of applying for a Graduate position
Yes
Confidence and the right attitude trumps pure technical ability. Knowledge can be taught, a good working mentality can't.
