Overview
My team supports the management system of technical sales across Europe, Middle East and Africa. Jobs vary quite a lot depending on the time of year etc., but overall I assist with multiple technical programmes, and support the management of executives and the overall team.
Skills
There is so much to learn at IBM, that I think even after being in the company for multiple years there will always be something new to learn. I have developed skills in Quantum Computing, Artificial Intelligence, improved programming skills, and these weren't actually a part of my day to day job. I have also developed skills in event management, improved my excel/data skills and overall grown in confidence.
Responsibilities
Yes, I was a valued member of the team from the start.
Support & Guidance
Having an early professional manager in place to help with any support and guidance needed was great, as there is always somebody who is able to help. My day to day manager is always happy to provide support/answer questions, as is everybody in the company. Every person I've reached out to for support has always been happy to help.
Culture
Lots of events on all year round, which provides opportunities to grow your network as well as continue to learn about other ares of the business. There are a lot of different social groups to get involved with, despite everything having to be virtual there have been quite a lot of fun activities over the year. Lots of diversity initiatives, such as LGBTQ+, BAME, Women, People with Diverse Abilities and Neurodiversity groups.
Your Impressions
I had an incredible time on placement, I learnt and developed so much over the course of a year, and it has helped me to realise what direction I want my career to go in. Every single person I worked with has been incredibly friendly, providing a great company culture. I would definitely love to return as a graduate after completing my degree.
Yes
Be passionate about technology, and very eager to learn. Having a passion for the job definitely makes it much more enjoyable, and the learning opportunities are endless.
