Overview
Complete financial analysis, looking at performance, budget, forecasting etc. Learning and Development courses undertaken each week. As well as various interns project continuously worked on over the 10 weeks.
Skills
Developed presentation/public speaking skills. Learnt how to build a professional relationship. Developed Excel / PowerPoint skills and also developed my knowledge of how banks work.
Responsibilities
Yes, I was given weekly and monthly reporting tasks which provided me with the opportunity to send my work directly to high stakeholders without complete supervision, but still given the support I needed to do this.
Support & Guidance
I received lots of support from my line manager and the wider team. Everyone was always willing to put time in their diaries with me to discuss anything / provide me with guidance for any problems I had, which made it very easy to settle in quickly.
Culture
Lots of focus on diversity and sustainability discussions. Due to Covid times, everyone worked from home throughout the majority of my placement here so we definitely lost a lot of the social events but my team still tried to put some time aside each week for a more relaxed and fun social meeting on Fridays.
Your Impressions
I thoroughly enjoyed the internship as it met all my expectations and I have applied to the referral scheme to get on to the graduate scheme at LBG.
Yes
Research the bank before starting, there is a lot of useful information on its website but also read other articles to get an understanding of its role in the UK economy. Be prepared to ask as many questions as you can and try to meet as many people as possible from across the Group because it is so large, it is easy to miss out on the bigger picture of how Lloyds works.
