Overview
Participated in a pro bono consulting project where we received a problem statement and were placed in teams to identify solutions with guidance from the client and our mentor. Networked and built connections with talented people across the organisation. Listened to presentations on the different areas of Accenture and had the opportunity to ask questions about them. Received training sessions on coding, design thinking, personal branding, giving presentations and agile thinking. Sourced 'side-of-desk' work from other departments we were interested in aligning with. Had daily project team calls, mentor calls 2-3 times a week and 2 client calls throughout the 3 weeks.
Skills
I have developed my critical thinking and problem solving skills through breaking down the problem statement and identifying potential, feasible solutions to deliver to the client. Furthermore, working closely in a team of 5 has allowed me to hone my collaborative skills as we had to take into account everyone's perspectives and produce a solution which encompassed aspects of everyone's ideas as well as honing my communication skills through presenting our solutions to the client in a clear, concise manner. Through making the presentation I developed my Microsoft Powerpoint skills.
Business Insight
It was very insightful into gaining a deeper insight into the different business areas of Accenture that I didn't even know existed previously such as Interactive and Industry X. It really made me realise that there is a role for everyone as some roles have crossover in multiple areas.
Culture
The company culture and general atmosphere was very friendly, warm and welcoming, anyone who I sent invitations to for networking calls accepted almost immediately and was very helpful and insightful when I asked questions. The HR team was also very supportive throughout the whole process, checking in everyday to make sure things were running smoothly as well as hosting virtual events so we could get to know the rest of our peers better as the internship was virtual. There was also many diversity and inclusive networks such as Accent on Gender which we were able to hear about and participate in some side-of-desk work.
Your Impressions
I thoroughly enjoyed my time at Accenture, the work was challenging but fun and they really do look out for their people and make them feel welcomed and supported as everyone was very helpful and friendly- it exceeded my expectations! The company culture is very inclusive and warm and it was great to see that my work had an impact and was of value to the client. I would definitely go back to Accenture if I had the opportunity!
Yes
I would recommend to honestly have fun and relax during the interview process, do not stress too much. Also have some questions prepared for the end and research Accenture beforehand e.g values, projects, different areas, CSR, diversity/inclusivity networks. Lastly, make sure to look at the camera if the interview is conducted virtually!
