Overview
Analyzing a company's financial, operational, and management strengths or weaknesses to identify potential capital, balance sheet, and reputation risks. Identifying credit issues or challenges early on in the underwriting process and recommending ways to further mitigate risk. Preparing annual company financial reviews and underwriting memos focused on a company's leverage, key risk factors, repayment sources, cash flow, and service debt. Assessing the client's ability to repay debt and comply with financial covenants.
Skills
I learnt how to network with individuals across the company, how to brand myself through professional development sessions offered and to work in a team through preparing presentations. I developed confidence whilst delivering presentations, communication skills reaching out to people to connect, analytical and financial skills via completing ESG reports, pricing analysis's and Industry overviews. I also developed time-management and organisation skills when working with active deadline to make sure I'm making progress.
Responsibilities
I was given a lot of responsibility during my internship to complete my work. During the beginning, I was given a project to track potential clients, collate their financial information and run a pricing analysis to have all pertinent information in one place. I was also required to complete ESG reports, Industry Overviews and Update company financial information. For all of these, I was asked to complete them myself but had someone on hand to help.

Culture
The company culture was extremely positive. Everyone I met were helpful, pro-active about making this a good internship experience and kind. When I reached out to people to connect about their roles and responsibilities, they were more than happy to help and shared their honest experiences of their career journey thus far and how they enjoyed their day-to-day work as well. Even when I went in to office, people were generous and offered to take me out for coffee and made sure I had everything I needed.
Your Impressions
I really enjoyed my internship with Wells Fargo. Right from the get go, they made sure to communicate everything with me clearly, respond to any queries I had during my application process and help me with what I needed. Even during the internship, people responded to any problems I had in a positive manner and tried to help. I was given a lot of control over my tasks and my buddy ensured that I had enough work everyday.
Yes
Wells Fargo values individual personalities, characteristics and motivations as opposed to a ton of financial knowledge and skill (although this is appreciated as well). My interview process focused on my competency and my specific interests in banking as opposed to how much previous experience I had in the banking industry so focus on developing your skills and finding a way to apply them to the role you apply for. I would say reach out to people on LinkedIn as everyone wants to help.
