Overview
Each week starts with some training before we are given a project where we are given the opportunity to apply what we've learnt. These projects are constructed to develop your understanding of a topic, so when you're done you feel you've learnt a lot since to complete the project you would've had to do significant research. The end of each week involves helping graduates on client work which varies in nature.
Skills
I've learnt about the pensions industry and how to use new software packages. This placement has developed my presenting skills significantly due to the nature of the projects, as well as my understanding of calculating a pension, a scheme's liabilities etc.
Responsibilities
I was given complete autonomy on my projects, and with client work each piece I was given had context to it so I knew what my work was contributing to.
Support & Guidance
I was given a buddy who was always free to answer questions. Questions were encouraged throughout the internship.
Culture
Very positive and up beat. LCP has a wide array of diversity and social initiatives to get involved in.
Your Impressions
It has been great, my only complaint is it's not longer.
Yes
Be yourself and be honest. All you need to show is your desire to learn and adapt.
