Overview
Helping my team create deliverables for both pitches and deals. Attend deal calls and take notes for the team and the client. Update benchmark information on the main companies the team covers.
Skills
Yes. Learned a lot about the industry and regarding technical skills for the job (valuation, powerpoint, excel). Also, learned about commercial skills by seeing my senior team members engage in client meetings. Developed communication skills by engaging with different people in the bank, developed detail orientation. Also, developed problem solving skills during the new tasks that I had to complete.
Responsibilities
I believe I was given quite a lot compared to other interns. My team let me send things to clients directly. Moreover, I was able to work directly with the senior team on some documents and tasks which allowed me to get more exposure to how my director works.
Support & Guidance
My team was always available to answering my questions and expecting me to ask them. Even when working with my director, I was very comfortable with asking questions. Moreover, my analyst would always explain the analyses he did (and that I was not involved in due to the complexity) after they were completed. Which allowed me to better understand the tasks of an analyst.
Culture
The company culture is really good. Even though in my team I was allocated to a vertical, people in the other verticals were also very welcoming. We had the chance to have events with junior people and a lunch with the MDs in our team in an informal environment. Also the staffers and HR were always open to us flagging any issues we had.
Your Impressions
I really enjoyed my internship. I am looking forward to coming back to the company and to the team I worked with during the summer.
Yes
That Citi tries to choose people by their personality and how motivated they are. Soo I would advise for people to focus on showing their true personality during the interviews. Interviewers end up picking the candidates that were able to create an enjoyable and natural conversation so that they could relate to.
