Overview
Over the course of the internship I was able to work on a number of live deals. My role on these deals mainly compromised of working on valuations and financial models in excel and building and updating decks that were for client presentations. As well as this performed a number of smaller jobs e.g. research tasks, note-taking in meetings ..
Skills
Yes learnt a great amount technically in learning how to conduct valuations as well as the deal processes for different types of valuations. Developed excel and powerpoint skills significantly. Also developed soft skills like communicating in a corporate environment and efficiently managing deadlines.
Responsibilities
Yes - was able to take on tasks on high-profile, live deals and felt the team involved me from the beginning. As internship progressed was given more autonomy as I learnt more and became comfortable with processes. Was able to make a difference and have a meaningful contribution on all the projects I worked on.
Support & Guidance
The analysts & associates I worked closely with were very helpful and would give up their time to guide me through tasks and explain new concepts to me. Found everyone approachable and keen to help with questions I had.
Culture
High-pressure and high workload but found everyone quite relaxed and friendly despite this. Generally everyone was positive and friendly and seemed to enjoy the work and the team.
Your Impressions
Really enjoyed as I felt it gave me great exposure to the work of an IB analyst. I learnt a great amount on the programme and found everyone I worked with helpful and friendly which made the environment enjoyable.
Yes
I would recommend good revision of accounting and valuation methods and take the time to practice and think about responses to standard competency questions.
