Overview
On a day to day basis I would attend online meetings my supervisors thought would be relevant for me to attend, I would read documentation to advance on my projects, sometimes make presentations of my findings, or do some excel tasks given out to me.
Skills
I developed my social and communication skills as well as teamwork ones, and learnt about metrology, quality and design. I also learnt to build process maps as well as bettered my organisation skills.
Responsibilities
I was given a fair amount of responsibility, nothing huge, but substantial enough for me to understand what it feels like, as well as the weight of what I was doing.
Support & Guidance
They did a stellar job supporting and guiding me, and even just reinforcing the idea that should I need anything or have any concerns I should not hesitate to reach out.
Culture
Both company culture and general atmosphere felt very healthy, as if conversation was always welcome and everyone seemed very helpful.
Your Impressions
Aside from less involvement with the site and different organisms due to covid-19 it was amazing, I think it really was the best it could have been given the circumstances and my supervisors did an amazing job. I really enjoyed myself and by the end of it there was a lot I wanted to explore still, I learnt a lot and it was really interesting. Hopefully I'll be learning some more in the future!
Yes
Prepare thoroughly and find out what you like about what they offer. Ask them what they do on a day to day basis, what their background is, what they are pationate about. And when you do interviews it is simply the standard thing of showing them your thought process, your initiative, who you are and how you work in a team.
