Overview
I had fairly long independent projects based around different areas of Catastrophe Modelling. I also had an intern specific project that was separate from my team at Aon. An example of a project might be to run a specific set of circumstances and locations through a modelling software and then interpret the results, potentially creating a presentation and may take place over a week or two.
Skills
Learning how to use the modelling software and familiarising myself with the Cat modelling, insurance and reinsurance industries
Responsibilities
Most projects were expected to be handled without supervision, although support was there if needed. Taking personal responsibility was one of the key aspects to the internship
Support & Guidance
I had a manager, a buddy (an Aon employee who can give relevant advice) and another intern to discuss any problems I had (work related or otherwise).
Culture
Very welcoming, and inclusive.
Your Impressions
I really enjoyed and took a lot out of it
Yes
Be yourself, Aon is quite a people orientated business, particularly for it's size so they will want to get to know you. The application process was quite long but it was very friendly throughout
