Overview
The role definition usually involves Software Engineering / Software Development. Background in programming / Computer Science is not necessary however is helpful during the interview process. Working with new and emerging technology are some of the many day-to-day activities.
Skills
Yes, especially communication skills as well as improving my perseverance, dedication and willingness to learn more new things to do with new programming languages, frameworks, front-end and back-end software development, writing automated tests.
Responsibilities
There was high responsibility handled throughout the internship as the project assigned directly plays an important role as it is for the firm's internal and / or external clients. Responsibility is expected to be handled by interns and therefore is the primary reason why projects are usually of very high importance.
Support & Guidance
A lot of support and guidance was received from the firm's existing employees as they were able to help guide learning of new programming languages, frameworks and are always available and happy to answer any questions regardless of the question's importance.
Culture
Company culture is spectacular; tendency and promotion of a culture where employees are encouraged to regularly connect-with and speak to other employees in different divisions and countries. Fostering a highly supportive and empowering working environment.
Your Impressions
Thoroughly enjoyed the internship as it was a fantastic opportunity to not only meet new people, but also to connect with more leading experts in the industry and well as learning and putting self's skills to use in the development of a firmwide product yet to influence individuals worldwide.
Yes
Would advice future applicants to keep an open-mind; even though the application process may be stressful (especially with the number of application stages) always be positive, hopeful and keep a happy smile! Do not doubt your ability to get through to the next stage, and always believe in yourself, since Goldman is a very supportive, inclusive and friendly environment to progress your career to the next stage. Always remain optimistic in the interview process.
