Overview
Per day multiple tasks would be given including; transfer value calculations, trivial commutations, some accounting tasks, valuations, meetings with hubs and colleagues and where needed, appropriate emails being sent internally and to administrators for information/task orientated
Skills
Yes - soft skills including communication but varied for each person. Techniques for the spreadsheets and calculations performed, including the use of the programs applied for clients. My professional language has improved, especially after seeing what type of language is used in communication to different people.
Responsibilities
Yes, each task was given with the same amount of responsibility I would have been given if I was a new graduate entering the company. The expected outcome is what you would expect from anyone being given client work.
Support & Guidance
There is as much support as you open yourself up to after the standard training they give you.
Culture
Very welcoming, both virtually and in person (when did go into the office). The aura was very open and gave options for growth in personal areas
Your Impressions
I very much enjoyed it more than I thought I would have done considering its classed as a 'Finance Office Job'. The work itself may have times that it becomes dull but colleagues are always happy to have a break to have a chat if you need a refresher or to talk you through something, making the job less pressured
Yes
You do not need to have a clear understanding of what an actuary is, I didn't. They provide you with enough training to get you started as the rest you do learn based on actual tasks . You will need to be open minded and willing with tasks handed out and be open to taking on tasks, very teamworking.
