Overview
My role as an intern varied every day and weekly as I was placed with different teams. Often it involved shadowing and training, but also a lot of practical tasks and even he chance to meet dealers face-to-face. More often than not, I was active in meetings and calls (both internally and externally) in which I could learn about CDF and other lines of business.
Skills
Many! Time management was a big skill I have vastly improved on because the internship kept me very busy. I've also got more confident in both public speaking and networking and I think many other skills i picked up over the 10 weeks I will take forward with me into future careers.
Responsibilities
Yes. I was given quite a lot of responsibility during my internship, mainly around talking to clients and pitching to them. I also had a lot of work with spreadsheets that would then be shared internally and used by others within CDF and Wells Fargo. Overall a sensible level of responsibility as no work was ever too overwhelming.
Support & Guidance
Plenty of support and guidance. I had a buddy over the 10 weeks, as well as my manager - then per team per week I also had a buddy and a lead manager who guided me through the week and who aided me with any tasks or queries I may have had.
Culture
Surprising overall! I came into the internship with fairly negative pre-conceptions of banking, but Wells Fargo pleasantly surprised me and had a very open and positive culture that respected most importantly honesty.
Your Impressions
To a large extent. I loved the internship and the entire experience. I want to do it again and I got more than what I ever could have hoped over the 10 weeks.
Yes
Be yourself, don't be nervous, be open and honest!
