The Role
It was a really enjoyable placement gaining invaluable experience across many different parts of the business.
My colleagues treated me really well. You felt as though you were part of the team no matter how long you had been with them which made the work really enjoyable.
There was plenty of support and guidence. Students are given a contact who oversees the whole placement. Line managers and supervisors were really helpful in training and giving me support where I needed it.
In work you are expected to work hard so there is always plenty to do. However all my managers understood that I was there to be trained and learn so was rotated in extra throughout the placement
I chose to spend different time in different departments during the placement so did not gain enough expereince in the time I was in each department to run the shift. I did however have responsibility within the job role I was learning which made the exerience really rewarding.
By spending time in different department I have gained a huge amount of expreinece as each department has a different set of challenges.
The Company
Very positive in all the areas of the business I worked in.
I was amazed by the level of organisation on the placement. From day one you know what training sessions are coming up and how the year is planned out. Going through the different departments in basic training was seamless as everyone was aware and prepared for the students arrival.
In the meetings with other students there were training sessions in which we got trainied in a variety of areas. Everyone acheived their personal alcohol license.
Company Parties/Events
Above 25 days holiday
Lidl offer a wide range of graduate job opportunities so give a great propsect of gaining a job with the area of the business which you enjoyed working in on your placement.
The Culture
The placement year has 5 meetings with other placement students which is good to catch up and share expereinces with theother students. Day to day you are based in a region with another placement student however you do not work together as to get the best training Lidl separate the students. Apart from the meetings with other students the placement year does not offer a good social scene.
I moved to the area where I was working and it was relatively inexpensive.
Don't know.
Being based near the distribution centre there were weekly football games which I could take part in.
