Overview
I worked on a variety of client projects, using Excel and programming to achieve this. Did work on loss forecasting, solvency ii, and reserving, working with a range of people on the team. Also had projects to do with the wider group of aon interns.
Skills
My excel skills have dramatically increased. I learned new programming languages as well. My teamwork and communication skills have also benefited. It has been a very valuable experience in terms of education as I have been given experience into so much.
Responsibilities
Lots of responsibility from day 1. Worked on multiple client projects where my work was actually for the client, and given lots of guidance by my team. Some projects would only have a few other people working on them so you gain a lot of responsibility.
Support & Guidance
Lots of support. Had training throughout the first 2 weeks and ongoing study sessions throughout. Whenever you started a new project people would walk you through what needed to be done and how. You could always ask questions and get support.
Culture
It was a great place to work. The culture was very inclusive and friendly. Everyone was nice to work with and seemed to care. It was a very flat environment and even met the CEO on one call.
Your Impressions
I loved it! It was a very valuable 9 weeks and I learnt so much. I thoroughly enjoyed my work and it gave me a great insight into the actuarial career. My team were great and was really enjoyable.
Yes
Make sure you are sure which job stream you want to do, as they are all quite varied. Make sure to brush up on your excel skills as well! But don't think you have to know everything as they'll teach you what you need to know.
