Overview
I was a Technology and Change Intern. This consisted of working with back office technological systems. This included both internal infrastructure systems and business facing regulatory systems.
Skills
Developed team-building skills in a community project. Also was able to build up technical skills via exposure to different systems and processing languages. Financial literacy skills were also improved due to exposure to the industry via the regulator.
Responsibilities
I was given responsibility of BAU technical tasks such as opening change release windows and reporting weekly on system performance. I was then given a lot of freedom in other workstreams and generally if I asked to lead a project or initiative I was able to do so.
Support & Guidance
Had 1-on-1s twice a week with my manager where I could ask questions, give updates on work and ask for networking contacts.
Culture
FCA has a unique culture of working to deliver in the public interest. This is truly conveyed in the work people do and you are constantly reminded of that. Very friendly atmosphere and you could put 15 minutes in anyone's diary if you wanted to chat to them about their work.
Your Impressions
I thoroughly enjoyed my placement. I am just gutted that it has already come to an end!
Yes
Look at both the FCA Mission and the FCA's Values and think about how your previous experiences have linked into these two things.
