Overview
My role involved integrating a cloud service into the team's existing tech stack. I collaborated a lot with members of my team since my project was very challenging and a lot of unforeseen challenges appeared throughout the course of the project.
Skills
My project was definitely very challenging and I did develop my technical skills. My project was a Java spring boot application, and I had never previously coded in Java before so there was a sharp learning curve.
Responsibilities
My project was a standalone one, meaning that I was the only person who was working on it (although I received a lot of help from my team members when required) so I was responsible for any bugs and issues that occured.
Support & Guidance
The internship was well organised and I had daily catchups with my manager to ensure I was on track to meet my deliverables. I also had a buddy in the team who I could turn to for help, and a mentor in the wider team who also provided advice.
Culture
The atmosphere in my team was friendly and communicative. Everyone seemed very motivated and hardworking.
Your Impressions
This internship was a fantastic learning opportunity and I think I learnt a lot from it. The company has clearly invested a lot of time and effort into this internship program since it was very well organised.
Yes
The application process for this internship seemed fairly standard, so make sure you brush up on your company knowledge, technical coding skills, and are prepared to speak about yourselves during the interviews and assessment centre.
